The iphone may have its first real competitor starting as early as Q1 of 2008. There have been several rumors circulating about the “google phone,” and what exactly it will offer.
Google will be creating a special version of Google maps, complete with GPS tracking system. It will also apparently be compatible with G-mail, and Google Calenders. I will be interested to see how they are going to try to match the physical finesse of the iphone, because i have seen several different “prototype” pictures of the said phone. Here is one that actually looks pretty cool, but I’m not sure if this is supposed to be the final product or not.
What are your thoughts on google’s attempt to take on the cellular market, and compete with apple?

(still playing too many video games.)

Check out the LG Voyager. It will also compete with the iPhone.

I am also curious to see what Google’s version will actually look like. I think that will be crucial to its success.
Isn’t the Google phone called the gPhone? I found an article when I was doing my annotated bibliography: http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=202805257
Take a peeky.
I say, why not? It’s just like the entertainment industry…singers are actors, actors are singers, etc. Everyone wants to branch out and be known for more than on thing, and it seems now that it is the same for google. Why just be a search engine, when you can be a phone, or the pc itself? I think it is actually kind of cool. I’m interested to see if they can really give apple a run for their money. I don’t have an iphone and never really considered getting one but I just may look into this new google phone when it comes out. I just have to see what kind of prices they’re talking about.
